Objective To understand the residents’ awareness and willingness to electronic health records in Beijing and to analyze their influencing factors so as to provide reference for the improvement of electronic health records. Methods In March 2012, a total of 596 residents residing in Beijing for more than six months were stratified and their questionnaires were designed according to the knowledge-attitude practice (KAP) model. Questionnaires were collected by uniformly trained investigators. Results 19.97% of the respondents heard of eHealth files, 399 of which indicated “willingness” to establish eHealth files, accounting for 66.95%; 197 of them said “do not want to”, accounting for 33.05% %. Among them, 109 of the respondents who have heard of the electronic health records are willing to file, accounting for 91.60%; 290 have not heard of the willing to file, accounting for 60.80%; the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion At present, residents in Beijing have a relatively low level of knowledge about eHealth files, and the degree of willingness is better. However, residents’ strong sense of privacy protection, low awareness and awareness of health care have weakened their willingness to file .
