雄关不独北国有。千百年来,祖辈先民构筑了数不清的城防设施和军事要塞,以之抵御入侵,保境安民。坚固的城防,雄伟的结构,丰富的历史文化内涵,构成了中华大地上独具特色的古城文化。现在北京八达岭、慕田峪、司马台、古北口、天津黄崖关、河北山海关附近的老龙头、角山等处长城的雄姿,均是经戚继光改进之后所留下来的。可以说,临海古城墙堪称北京八达岭等处长城的“师范”和“蓝本”。
