Objective To understand the status of body mass index and the prevalence of hyperuricemia among college freshmen in Yunnan universities and to explore the correlation between hyperuricemia and body mass index to provide scientific data for the prevention and treatment of overweight, obesity and hyperuricaemia among college adolescents. Methods The physical examination and blood uric acid test were carried out on freshmen of 2015 male college students in Yunnan University. Data entry using epidata double entry, data analysis using analysis of variance, pearson correlation analysis, chi-square test, logistic regression analysis. Results The prevalence of overweight was 12.34% and the obesity rate was 6.01% for freshmen of Grade 2015 in Yunnan universities. Serum uric acid level was 356.61 ± 69.61umol / L, the prevalence of hyperuricemia was 24.94%. There was a linear correlation between BMI and serum uric acid (r = 0.186, P <0.05). According to the BMI group, the prevalence of hyperuricemia in each group was 11.1% in the emaciation group, 22.0% in the normal group, 41.8% in the overweight group and 68.1% in the obesity group. As the BMI increased, the prevalence of hyperuricemia The rate then increased (trend = 75.24, P <0.001). Conclusions BMI is positively correlated with hyperuricemia in college students and has become a risk factor for college students with hyperuricemia. This phenomenon should arouse the attention of the education department and the health department. Measures should be taken in the school health care work to control the prevalence of overweight, obesity and hyperuricaemia, and to carry out targeted interventions to enhance the health of young students Level.
