I warn you, this is not a pleasant story. My father’s name is Jack Russell. When I was a teenager, we lived with my mother in a house to the east of Grand Rapids, Montana, near the township of Heywood, the Woodwood Range and the Missouri River. It was a flat, tree-free narrow strip of land, all used to grow wheat. But my father had never worked in farming, and he grew up in a family working for Boeing near Dacoma, Washington. My father was a sergeant in the air force. Instead of returning to his hometown of Dacoma, where his mother wanted to go, after returning from Grand Rapids, he managed to obtain a civilian job in the Air Force and work on his favorite aircraft repair business. He had rented a suburban house from a farmer. That person is not willing to let the house empty. The kind of house is gone now - I’ve been to that place. But the two rows of sand jujube trees and two shacks still stand in milkweed. It is an ordinary two-story house with a portico in the front and no parking area. At that time, I took a school bus to Grand Rapids every day, my father drove to work, and my mother stayed at home.
