The main purpose of this project is to address specific humanitarian issues in a particular part of the world. Therefore, in choosing a theme, we consider how to provide a solution to the world’s social problems through architecture. The city of Cyprus is closely linked to us, with its land and its people divided in two, making it a troubled area. Here, we need to think about one of the biggest problems humans face: ethnic alienation. We have noticed that the two ethnic groups in Cyprus, the Turks and the Greeks, are not friends and co-exist in peace and form the same family. Instead, they are guarded against each other as a “alien” enemy. We think this can be avoided, they have the same way of life, ways of thinking, feelings and needs. We try to break all the borders between them, both physically and mentally.
