我的家乡周围都是纺织厂和烟田,可供我观察的职场生活寥寥无几,因此,我只知道自己想要教书。当我在上有机化学课时,教课的老师是我见过的最无聊的老师,那时我就知道自己想要教这门课,而且我可以做得更好。当我在研究生时期学习生物化学时,我也确信自己想要教这门课。70年代早期的时候并没有几个在招聘的学术岗位,我在申请这些岗位时将自己推销为一名生物化学家,并以这个身份获得了一个小型学院的教师岗位。渐渐地,我也成长为一名生物化学家。加上研究和写作的休假时间,我在教学岗位上一共度过了37年的快乐时光。我待过的学校更注重教学,而对
My hometown is surrounded by textile mills and tobacco fields. There are only a handful of working places for me to observe. Therefore, I only know that I want to teach. When I was in organic chemistry class, the teacher who taught was the boring teacher I had ever met, then I knew I wanted to teach this class and I could do it better. When I was studying biochemistry during my graduate school, I was convinced that I wanted to teach it. Few academic positions were recruiting in the early 1970s. When I applied for these positions, I sold myself as a biochemist and in that capacity I got a small college teacher position. Gradually, I also grew into a biochemist.
