建国以来,尤其是改革开放以来,历届湖北省委和省政府都为妇女参政作出了巨大努力,取得了可喜的成效。广大妇女活跃在社会各领域,社会地位明显提高。全省妇女关心国家大事,关注社会发展,参与社会政治生活的意识和能力不断增强,对国家和社会事务的管理、监督作用得到充分的发挥。目前,我省选举的113名第八届全国人大代表中有31名妇女。省八届人大有女代表193人,省七届政协
Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, especially since the reform and opening up, all the previous Hubei Provincial Party Committees and provincial governments made tremendous efforts for the participation of women in politics and achieved gratifying results. The majority of women are active in all fields of society and their social status has obviously improved. Women’s awareness of and ability to participate in social and political life have been continuously raised in the province with women’s concern for major national issues, social development, and the supervisory role of state and social affairs has been fully demonstrated.
