The contents of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and lipid peroxidation (LPO) and the number of T lymphocytes (TLC) in female workers exposed to benzene and toluene were measured and analyzed. Results: The contents of SOD and LPO in the exposed female workers were significantly higher than those in the control group, while the TLC counts were significantly lower than those in the control group. Significant changes have taken place in the counts of SOD, LPO and TLC at a still normal range of WBC mean. Thus, benzene, toluene on the body lipid peroxidation levels and TLC earlier than WBC. Therefore, we think that using SOD, LPO and TLC counts as the indicators for early detection of benzene, toluene in workers’ health hazards is of great significance.
