本文根据对建板的树种鉴定和理化性能,距今年龄测定,并通过现场考察,确定了建板是由德昌杉木因地壳局部变动埋没后发生化学组成变化,具有强耐腐力的名贵木材.提出了德昌一带是德昌杉木的古老自然分布区.建板是一种阴沉木.此种阴沉本色泽美观,芳香致密,经久耐腐,从前人们用以制作名贵的棺木.德昌称棺木为大板,因主产四川德昌县,德昌原属西昌县,西昌原名建昌,所以把产于德昌一带的这种阴沉木叫做建板,又称困杉、陈乔、阴沉、香杉花板、阴沉香杉板.数百年前,我国劳动人民就开始了对建板的发掘利用.据西昌县志记载:(?)‘由数千年之杉林,因地壳变动,埋没土中,经水冲出制成者,其芳香致密经久无与伦比,分红油紫油两种’.‘初由土中挖出时,有直径丈余,长二三十丈者.有边材腐朽仅剩心材者,有并边材亦完好者,观其状况可知其年之先后也.’‘以其香气剧烈,油汁丰富,且甚耐久故也,此种香杉花板可耐七八百年,因县属坟墓有明洪武时埋没迄今完好者.’‘山崩料出……然一山厂中,每一料出或数株并出,其位置方向,往往纵横斜亘.’‘此种香杉花板,县人运往各大都会售卖,价值最昂.’(?)由于建板的特殊名质,建板的考证早被国内外科学工作者所关注,曾作一些调查研究,对成因和特性有各种推测.为了查明建板是何种树种,成因、特性,?
