In this paper, we used the experimental method to study the characteristics of single syllable perceived by children with normal hearing and minor hearing impairment, and investigated the effect of mild hearing impairment on single syllable perception. Experimental results show that, with a few exceptions, the vast majority of subjects experienced a number of speech-perception errors ranging from hearing loss to hearing loss. The speech components with the most speech perception errors are the initials, followed by vowels, while the tones with the lowest speech perception errors. Participants’ responses also showed that the speech-sensing process includes brain processing activities. A comparison of the responses of children with normal hearing impairments and those with mild hearing impairments showed that mild hearing impairments did not have a significant effect on the perception of individual syllables.
