约瑟夫·鲁德亚德·吉卜林是英国杰出的小说家兼诗人,是首位获得诺贝尔文学奖的英国人。良好的家庭教育是吉卜林成才的基础,他的父亲是艺术学校的雕塑学教授,后任拉哈尔博物馆馆长,母亲是一位牧师的女儿。吉卜林出生于印度,7岁左右回国接受传统的英式教育,这样的成长经历赋予了他性格中矛盾的一面。吉普林的作品素以描写殖民地的异国风光而见长,其中最出色的是其短篇小说,堪称世界文学史上的经典。[1]他创作的优秀短篇合集《丛林之书》
Joseph Ruddard Kipling is an outstanding British novelist and poet and the first British to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. Good family education is the foundation of Kipling’s talent. His father is professor of sculpture at the art school, the curator of La Raul Museum and the mother’s daughter of a pastor. Kipling was born in India and returned to China at the age of seven years to receive traditional British education. This growth gave him a contradictory character in his character. Kipling’s works are famous for describing the exotic scenery of the colonies. The best of these works is his short story, which is regarded as a classic in the history of world literature.
