泥石流是发生在山区的一种自然灾害现象.是水、土、石混合状态的急流.它暴发突然,历史暂短,运动快速,来势凶猛,破坏力大,严重危及着山区人民生命财产的安全及国民经济建设的发展,是山区人民迫切需要解决的问题之一.81年7月28日,河北省青龙县南部遇到了历史罕见的特大暴雨,使泥石流大量发生,人民生命财产遭受严重损失.全县有14个公社受灾较重,共发生泥石流19,404个,造成房屋倒塌,人身伤亡,冲毁土地,冲垮工程,全县损失折款2,350万元.
