我国人物辞典的编纂历来是个很薄弱的环节,现代人物辞典尤其如此。包括现代文学家在内,若想查找有关资料,十分困难。人物传记与人物辞典之间没有十分明确的界限,详细、完备的辞典已近乎传记,而简略的传记与详备的辞典已混淆难辨。两方面都在内的话,综合性的现代人物辞典,过去只有1947年上海东方书店出版的任嘉尧编的《当代中国名人辞典》,收现代人物一千余人,收人较多,其中收现代人物也较多,但介绍极其简略,而且观点陈旧,只能起到略供参考的作用。1934年上
