The booming chemical industry of the last century was based on petroleum. However, due to the pressures of economy, politics and society, it is necessary to guide the chemical industry to use renewable raw materials for plants while using petroleum raw materials Gradually replaced. In the past, oil was the basic raw material for chemical materials, materials and liquid fuels. In the next century, oil will gradually emerge from this aura. Once this shift happens, the chemical industry will get a better sustainable development. Of course, a great deal of research needs to be done to make this transition possible. Based on the latest report of the National Science Council (NRC), this paper summarizes the research and development advantages of a sustainable, “green” chemical industry based on renewable plant resources.
