中學近代史課程向学生介紹從十七世纪中葉英國資產階級革命開始,到開闢現代史的偉大十月社會主義革命爲止的外國歷史。十月革命和第二次世界大戰後的歷史另成獨立篇章,以着重指出我國社會主義革命的全世界歷史性意義。近代史研究社會發展的一個階段,在這個歷史階段中,資本主義制度在歐美先進國度中確立了和勝利了,同時,資本主義內部矛盾也尖銳化了,而這種矛盾從偉大的十月革命以後在我國已經解决了。
