In this book, researchers from the mainland of China make an insightful overview of Shanghai during the Cultural Revolution, based on a few years of archival research and a comprehensive understanding of various publications and unpublished materials. Both focus on the cause and responsibility of the research model, instead focusing on the major events of that period and the daily life of Shanghai people intersection. The topics vary from chapter to section in the book, ranging from the giant statue of Mao Zedong on the university campus to the variety of fish on the market in the city. Different from most scholars still asking the question of why such a “Cultural Revolution” is such a problem, what is “what happened?” The result of such a questioning is that it will focus
