打印机、扫描仪、传真机、复印机已经成为现代办公环境中的几种必备设备,但单一分散的办公模式越来越难以满足用户对一体化办公的要求。在这种背景下,集打印、复印、传真、扫描等多项功能于一身的一体机应运而生。它所带来的好处体现在:一是降低了购置成本,二是改善了办公质量,三是提高了办公效率,四是为用户节省了相对有限的办公空间,从而受到越来越多办公用户的欢迎。不过,“尺有所短,寸有所长”。虽然一体机有诸多优势,但它仍然不能完全替代现有的办公环境。从办公设备特点来看,同一公司的不同职能部门对设备功能的需求各有侧重。比如,图像输出中心对打印机的高要求和设计部门对扫描仪的高要求,这些单项高端处理是一体机无法提供的。
