The role of transnational corporations in the world economy is growing. According to the information in the UN World Investment Report 1992, by the end of 1990, the number of transnational corporations in the world had exceeded 35,000, and their overseas subsidiaries were about 150,000. In 1990, foreign direct investment (FDI) of multinationals was 225 billion U.S. dollars. The accumulated foreign investment amounted to approximately 1.73 trillion U.S. dollars. In 1991, the total sales of the 500 largest industrial companies in the world was about 5.2 trillion U.S. dollars, accounting for 28.3% of the world’s gross domestic product (GDP). Faced with the competition and challenges of the giant transnational industrial companies in the world, large-scale industrial enterprises in China have to catch up, catch up, and actively participate in international competition and exchange in order to improve China’s overall international competitiveness.
