1968年,生命教育由美国学者杰.唐纳.化特士于首次提出,它认为教育的价值不仅仅是传授人以知识、技能、谋生的本领,在其深层意义上是使人成为人,进一步讲是依据生命的特征,遵循生命发展的原则,引导生命走向更完整、和谐与无限的境界。因此教育的起点应该是人的生命,素质教育必然要成为以提高人的生命质量为旨趣的教育。教育离不开生命,一切与学生生命有关的教育都称之为生命教育。生命教育是在生命中教育、为了生命的教育。
