The “Americas Initiative” proposed by President George W. Bush on June 27, 1990 marked a major U.S. adjustment to Latin American policy. Over the past year and more since the “initiative” was introduced, it has exerted a clear influence on the development of the U.S.-Latin American relations. This article attempts to start from the analysis of the basic content of the “initiative”, and focuses on the trend of the U.S.-Latin American relations in the coming period.
