Japan’s digital television standard is likely to use the United States standards for the production and display of digital image signals. This standard specifies the shape of the screen and the number of lines of the image. Officials in Japan’s government and industrial sectors say Japan has not decided on the format for program production standards and images but is likely to adopt standards similar to the U.S. system.
