陆川县地处亚热带,气候温和,雨量充沛,阳光充足,无霜期长,而且高温期与降雨期相一致,适宜于水稻生长。历史上以种植双季稻为主,一稻谷总产占粮食作物总产90%以上。解放以来,随着生产条件改善,耕作制度和耕作措施改革,科学种田水平提高,在种植面积比解放初期减少二成的情况下,双季稻产量仍有较大增长。1980年稻谷总产达到4.36亿斤,比1949年增长2.5
