马来西亚的珈啡种植业在19世纪末期开始萧条,主要原因有如下三条: 1、由于生产过剩(巴西),咖啡价格非常低; 2、咖啡叶锈病蔓延; 3、种植橡胶日益重要。 此后马来西亚的咖啡再没有完全得到恢复而成为次要作物。目前咖啡由小园主采用很不专业的方法在全国各地种植。
The caffeine crop in Malaysia started to slump in the late 19th century for three main reasons: 1) the price of coffee is very low due to overproduction (Brazil); 2) the spread of coffee leaf rust; and 3) the growing importance of rubber planting. Since then coffee in Malaysia has not been completely restored and become a secondary crop. At present, coffee is grown by smallholders using very unprofessional methods throughout the country.
