M4S5型变速器为三菱T65系列车通用齿轮式变速器,有五个前进档和一个倒档,二、三档和四、五档分别装有锁销式和锁环式惯性同步器,一档和倒档为滑动选择、机械摇控操纵。这种M4S5型变速器的变速比有二种不同的速比:一种为“DD”式变速器,其高速档(第五档)为直接传动,速比1:1;另一种是“OD”式变速器,其第四档速比为1:1、高速档(第五档)为超速传动。两种变速器的各档变速比见表1。用户反映:相当部分的进口时的旧车经使用一定时间后,其M4S5型变速器容易发生齿轮裂纹和“掉牙”现象。
