The University of Puerto Rico experimented with cement pit ash in sugarcane fields to gain production. According to the test, 166.7-2,666.7 kg of Mushi were slaked lime (one third) and cement kiln dust (two thirds) was mixed with fertilizer, and the yield of sugarcane increased by 48%. The ash content of cement kiln is equivalent to 48.51% of calcium oxide and 0.8% of magnesium oxide, or 88.62% of calcium carbonate; 2.19% of potassium and 1.04% of sulfur.
