坚持民族团结,是我党解决民族问题的根本政策。周恩来总结了我国的历史和现实,坚定了中华民族宜合不宜分的理念。他认为大汉族主义和地方民族主义是民族团结的重大障碍,应该通过坚持民族平等的原则,实行民族区域自治的政治制度,帮助少数民族进行经济文化建设,尊重少数民族的风俗习惯、语言文字和宗教信仰,反对大汉族主义和地方民族主义,培养和任用少数民族干部,使用稳当的协商的和平的办法等政策和措施来解决少数民族问题,实现中华民族的团结和繁荣。
