Adenosine triphosphatase (Na ~ + / K ~ + -ATPase) on the erythrocyte membrane regulates the delivery of sodium and potassium ions. The authors observed an increase in Na ~ + / K ~ + -ATPase activity in the erythrocyte membranes of lead refinery workers.
