涉县林业局局长白书太没有技术职称,却是一位广大林农果农熟知的“林果专家”。在局长的位子上干了近20年,他没给自己攒下任何财富,却用青春和汗水染绿了片片荒山。木橑是涉县群众食用油的主要来源。从1980年开始,严重的小峰虫害,致使80万株木橑树绝收,严重影响了群众的生活和经济收入。国内外林业科技史上查不到防治此虫的锦囊妙计。1987年,白书太三上省植保所请来三名专家,历经长达四年的试验研究,使木橑小蜂病虫害防治技术取得突破性进展。
