少年歌曲的对象,是小学高年级初中一、二年级同学,比之幼儿、儿童来说,他们在各方面都成熟多了。尤其是初中一、二年级的同学已经接近青年的年龄,他们总以为自己是大人了,不愿意别人称他(她)为孩子,对一些青年歌曲他们也颇感兴趣(如《年青的朋友来相会》)。少年时期总的来说,知识面更广、更丰富了,体魄更健壮了,逐步懂得什么是崇高的理想、高尚的情操。随着年龄增长他们的活动范围更广了,因此,少年歌曲的题材、体裁较之幼儿、儿童歌曲,无论在深度、广度上都要进一步的开拓。
