Since the beginning of the 1960s, we have basically been isolated from the world and have barely any knowledge of the development of films in various countries of the world. At the beginning of the publication of this magazine, many readers have asked for “make up classes” and hope we can introduce some materials on the development of foreign films in the past two decades. For this reason, we have decided from the beginning of this issue to select some of the chapters of “World Cinema since 1960” (Bertelsmann Press, 1978) by Ulrich Gregor. Gregor is a famous film historian in West Germany, his recent material is rich, in the system more in line with our requirements. However, this book is not very satisfactory because many of the points in the book have obvious bourgeois prejudice. The author’s evaluation of the film may not accurately reflect the real gains and losses of the film, and he hopes readers can treat the material with caution and criticism . The part on the Soviet film published this time was originally Chapter 15 of the book. Due to the length of the space, we made some compression of the translation.
