夏谷青到老品种是我区农科所从“日本60日×新农724”杂交第二代,连续几代选育而成。1976年定名,到1978年示范面积为3,000亩,今年发展到近70万亩。1981年全区亩产700斤以上达28,566亩。1979—1982年度曾获河北省农业技术推广成果甲级奖。青到老叶片宽大挺拔,茎粗壮,茎节短而结实,抗倒能力强,株高100厘米左右。穗圆锥形,码密,穗长12—15厘米,穗粒重6.5—8克,千粒重2.4—2.6克,白谷黄
