Molecular Biology of Betacyclein Betacellulin (BTC) belongs to the epidermal growth factor family and was first cloned in 1993 by Shing [1]. The gene for β-cytokine is located on 4q13 ± q21 of the human chromosome, the DNA sequence includes 6 exons and 5 introns, and the mR-NA sequence has 1271 bases. Sasada et al. [2] found that the precursor BTC is composed of 178 amino acids and includes many regions such as signal peptide and short pro-polypeptide.
