  As a key tool of logical reasoning and quantitative research, maths plays a profound role in the development of science and technology. The Innovation in the field of mathematics always leads to rapid development of science and technology, it will have a great impact on social evolution. Around 300 BC, Euclidian, from a couple of axiom or postulation in his Elements of Geometry, deduced practically all geometry theorem by logical reasoning, bringing order to the complicated world of geometry, establishing cause and effect among things. In the 17th century, calculus shifted research area of mathematics from immobilized matter to changing and moving matter, thus science from ancient qualitative study evolved into modern quantitative mode. The deveopment of mathematics laid a good foundation for the rapid development of modern science and technology.
  Mathematics plays an irreplacable role for the improvement of integral level of modern science and technology, especially its role in new disciplines, such as general relativity, quantum mechanics, computer science, theory of information, cybernetics, game theory , operational research and other subjects, all of which were respectively created under the help of mathematics in the 20the century. Mathematical theory and mathematical modeling has a great impact on understanding and controling and regulating the world. As the rapid development of computer science, various explorations can be done through computer programming, such as the forecast of the trend of finance and epidemic disease, the expriments about hurricane and volcanic eruption and so on. in this way, numeric stimulation tests are even popular and greatly deepens human’s understanding of the unknown world.
  Mathematics is everywhere in all fields of human life. Hua Luogeng, a great Chinese mathematician, had said;” in such an endless universe, the study of tiny particle, the roaring rocket, the mystery of chemistry, the change of the earth, to daily life, everything can not be without mathematics. Two major tendency characterize the advancement of modern science and technology: one is the profound change from quanlitative study to quantitative research, which displays the fundamentality of mathematical method; the other is the chiastopic fusion of multidiscipline, which indicates that systematic thinking plays a key role in research. Mathematics, its intersection, fusion, infiltration is becoming increasingly important in many aspects, such as in stimulating key scientific and technological innovation, and pushing forward global economic and social development. At present, scientific tasks concerning with mathematics and its cross-over study are at the cutting edge of the following tasks: the study of advanced communication and controlling method in information technology, systematic analysis and simulation in finance, mathematical method in advanced production and design, scientific calculating problems in resources and environment materials, modelling and analysis in biomedicine, along with mathematics’ intersection with physics and engineering . these tasks should also be taken as future directions when it comes to mathematics and disciplines related to it in China.   Since the foundation of new China in 1949, all Chinese mathematists of several generations have made great achivements in the field of fundamental mathematics; as the same time, we have made great progress in cross-over study between mathematics and other fields like physics, technological science, biology, finance and banking. Most importantly, we have applied these achievments to satisfy the need of our country’s strategy and social and economic development.
  Such applications includes the choice and measurement of satelite orbit in the project of atomic and hydrogen bombs and man-made satellite as well as calculation of nuclear power, mathematical mechnization, finite element solution of differntial equation, application of number theory in approximate analysis, design approach of uniform method,mathematic code, yield prediction of national grain output. All these projects have made remarkable contribution to our country. As the rapid overall development of science and technology and society , it should be promoted to national strategic level to improve economic and social development and national security, and push forward the advancement of the scientific and technological field related to mathematics. Only we have improved our original innovative capacity in mathematics and system science, and advance mathematics and its intersection discipline to a higher level, can we promote natural science, engineering technology and economic and social development fully and fundamentally, can we inject impetus for our country.
