Similar to the geology of the Colorado Plateau in the western United States, the Nakhon Si Trat plateau in the northeastern part of the country, together with the recent discovery of a uranium-copper deposit in the sandstone of the Nakhon Ratchasima Plateau, indicates that this plateau has enormous potential uranium resources. The most likely host rocks for uranium deposits are river-formed carbonaceous sandstones and conglomerate sandstones built in Jurassic PhraWihan, Sao Khua and Phu Phan, Jurassic and Cretaceous Tuleuchuang middle part. A uranium and copper mineral property is known to be found in the Lower Jurassic yellow and gray carbonaceous sandstone and conglomerate-like sandstone (Pavillon built?) In the PhuWieng area near the western margin of the Korat Plateau.
