氧气顶吹平炉的特点是熔炼时间短,产量高。但是它带来的问题,是渣量大,而且非常坚硬。生产一百多炉钢,沉渣室的渣子就积满了,造成系统的堵塞,从而又限制了它的生产能力。同时又给修炉工作带来极大的困难,劳动强度增大,工作环境艰苦,延长修炉工期。厂党委为了解决这个矛盾,通过学习外地的经验,结合本厂的实际情况,发扬了敢想、敢干、勇于创新的革命精神,曾多次召开三结合会议,广泛发动群众,于1976年7月进行全厂大会战,经过十天的日夜奋战,把10号氧气顶吹平炉的沉渣室改为活动渣车。通过生产实践,效果显
