In the outdoor track and field competitions of 1982 and 1983, we chose to shoot the top five races of 35 sprinters (15 males and 20 females) with the Olympic level. Biomechanical analysis was carried out with the consent of the U.S. Olympic Committee. The purpose of this research project is to feed back the findings to athletes and to make them aware of their strengths, deficiencies and the potential to be exploited. In order to get the key kinematic data, a high-speed camera was used to record the movement of each athlete on the sagittal plane at a speed of 100 frames per second. The camera was placed on the side of the athlete and the maximum speed was recorded.
