The World Situation There are between 65 million and 70 million deaf-mutes in the world, and there are about 20,750,000 in China. Many of them are unable to participate in the society. Their enrollment, job search, home ownership, family composition, child rearing and social life are less likely than the average person. Most people find it hard to use shops, public facilities and transportation. The UNESCO 2010 EFA Global Monitoring Report states that credible data for global comparisons are extremely difficult to obtain. A widely cited source holds that there are about 150 million children with disabilities in the world.
