莎巴珍珠是世界上最早熟的优良鲜食葡萄品种,而早莎巴珍珠比原品种提前7—15天采收,且含糖量高,可溶性固形物比原品种提高2—3%;含酸量较低;风味好,香味稍浓,是一个极早熟的优良鲜食葡萄品种。早莎巴珍珠是中国农科院郑州果树研究所于1965年首先从莎巴珍珠中发现,经过1966—1970年的观察,1979—1980年又继续作了鉴定,1982,1985年对芽变无性系第一代作了观察鉴定,调查结果表明,芽变单株的变异性状稳定,暂订名为早莎巴珍珠,现将有关性状介绍于后。
