One-third to one-half of patients admitted to hospital for acute MI are elderly over 70 years old, and 80% of those who have died of acute myocardial infarction are over 65 and 60% are over 75 years of age. From 1982 to 1992, 70 to 74 years of age in patients admitted with myocardial infarction were documented in Nottingham’s heart attack record
