A new genus of new species, L iaoxipterus brachyognathus gen.et sp.nov, was established based on an almost complete mandibulara of the genus Compositae found in the Lower Cretaceous Jiufutang Formation in the western Liaoning Province. The features of mandibular suture with its anterior extension and the widest distance between the left and right fourth alveoli are different from those with skull preservation found in western Liaoning and its surrounding areas
