中条山蜿蜒于山西省最南端,大部分与河南省接界,紧靠黄河北缘,岗峦起伏,地势险要,东西连绵500公里,它包括芮城、永济、平陆、夏县、闻喜、绛县、垣曲、翼城、沁水和阳城的全部或部分山地。本山区森林植物资源丰富,种类繁多,素有“山西天然植物园”之称。我国植物学和林业工作者对中条山曾作过一些植被和植物资源调查,但见到的报道甚少。我们于1982～1983年对本林区进行了初步调查和标本采集,主要是在沁水下川至舜王坪一带以及大小东沟、西峡;翼城二曲公社、大河林场的兜垛、黑峪沟;阳城桑林公社的蟒河、横河;闻喜石门公社;垣曲皋落公社、古城公社、蒲张公社等地计采集木本植物标本566号,3000余份,经过初步整理鉴定,计253种,隶属120属
