Robert Cuffer is a talented writer of American postmodernism. His works have typical characteristics of metafiction, reflecting his deep thinking on the relationship between the various fictional systems including literature and the real world. Taking the door of Kufu’s short story as an example, this paper analyzes the author’s reflection and subversion on postmodernist narrative model of classic fairy tales, as well as his efforts in smashing the remnants of the myth and shabby innovation. At the same time, it points out that “door” is not only a fairy tale fairy tales, but also an allegory that leads the reader into the fictional world of Kufu’s literature. It uses mockery to incorporate ridicule and criticism into literary creation, prompting readers to think about literature and contemplate life and reality.
