Comrades: This year’s metallurgical work conference in the province was convened under the guidance of thoroughly implementing the spirit of the 15th Party Congress and comprehensively promoting the reform and development of state-owned enterprises. The main tasks of this meeting are: to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 8th Plenary Session of the Seventh CPC Provincial Committee, the Economic and Trade Working Conference of the Province, the National Metallurgical Work Conference and the National Nonferrous Metals Industry Working Conference; conclude the work of the province’s metallurgical industry in 1997 and study and deploy 1998 tasks, to mobilize the vast number of workers in the metallurgical front of the province further liberation
