From 2003 to 2010, Chinese companies invested in at least 35 of the 50 U.S. states. The emergence of China as a major investment country is the latest test of the openness of the United States. In 2010, China invested more than 5 billion U.S. dollars in the United States and created more than 10,000 jobs. In the recent five years, China has more to double its investment in the United States each year. So far, Chinese companies have set up operations in at least 35 states in 50 U.S. states and have invested in dozens of industries, including manufacturing and service industries. If China follows the model of other emerging countries, by 2020, China’s direct investment in global liquidity will exceed one trillion U.S. dollars. Seeking investment abroad
