Nowadays,the urbanization wave in China is in the ascendant.It is changing China’s landscape in many respects,and bringing many challenges.The Middle East is the earlist,the most typical and the most representative region for urbanization in the developing world.Therefore,in order to explore a new path of urbanization with Chinese characteristics,it is very important that we systematically study the urbanization process of the Middle East and summarize its successes and failures.It is against such a context that we enthusiastically welcome the publication of Che Xiaomei’s monograph,A Study of Globalization and Urban Development in the Middle East.
