导光纤维主要应用在军事、电话、电视、数据传输等方面。如西德近期打算用在电视广抪和闭路电视方面,远期打算用在高容量通信中继线以及宽频电话方面。美国主要应用在军用、电话、短距离通信(中继线)、数据传输等方面;加拿大和英国主要应用在电缆电视方面;日本主要应用在工业控制方面(如发电厂)。关于军事应用方面的资料不多,下面作一简单介绍。
