从整体的、互文的视角探讨《文心雕龙》,刘勰的文学观念是超越儒道释的,他所说的经典包括儒家为首的各家各派的高水平著述,而非仅限于儒道释三家之中的任何一家。人的自觉和文的自觉既使刘勰的“圣人”观不限于之前的任何一家,也使其着眼于对经典的探讨。开放的视野和宽广的胸怀显示了刘勰《原道》的目的,也与其《征圣》和《宗经》的思想前呼后应,一起为《文心雕龙》全书的展开奠定了一个坚实的基础。由此看来,认为刘勰的“宗经”思想是局限于儒道释中任何一家的观点,实际上是将依附性思维方式强加给了刘勰。
