区域发展既包括经济发展、社会发展，也包括生态环境整治。目前我国实施的西部大开发战略既是我国经济发展战略的重大举措，又是区域发展进一步深化的必然结果。搞好西部大开发既具有重要的政治、经济意义，又具有重要的生态意义。
Regional development includes both economic development and social development as well as ecological environment remediation. At present, the strategy of developing the western region implemented by our country is not only a major measure for China’s economic development strategy, but also the inevitable result of further deepening regional development.
