探索海底的“尼普顿计划”二战结束后,随着科学技术的迅猛发展,世界各国都兴起了太空探索热。火箭、卫星、宇宙飞船、航天飞机、火星探索车陆续登场。然而最近几年科学界突然意识到,如今人类对月球和火星表面的了解程度竟然已经远远超过了对我们身边地球海洋洋底的了解深度。为了弥补人类对海洋洋底认识欠缺的问题,美国宇航局、华盛顿大学以及加拿大维多利亚大学的有关科学家已经决定将在2008年联合启动一项名为“尼普顿计划”的探索洋底活动。
