The compositions and the microstructures of the copolymers formed by radical-initiatedcopolymerization of 2-vinyl pyridine and methyl methacrylate have been quantitatively studied using250 MHz ~1H NMR spectra.V-centered triad and M-centered triad distributions were quantitativelymeasured. These results confirmed that this copolymerization system belongs to the first order Markovchain model.Reactivity ratios for 2-vinyl pyridine and methyl methacrylate established are r▽=0.64and rM=0.31,respectively,agreeing very well with those calculated theoretically.
